HondaJets On Schedule

By Haute Living

While a report from Bloomberg news stated that fewer HondaJets will be made next year than previously expected, Greensboro-based officials with Honda Aircraft Co. says their production plans have not changed.
The Bloomberg article originally cited an interview with Honda Motor Co. CEO Takeo Fukui, who said that 70 to 80 HondaJets will be produced per year for delivery starting in 2010, rather than the 100 that had been earlier projected.

However, Honda Aircraft’s Greensboro-based Senior Manager for Corporate Affairs Stephen Keeney said that the company is currently planning to make 80 to 100 planes per year when production begins; a projection he said has not changed recently.

“Based on the demand we’re seeing in our order book, we feel confident we’ll attain those production numbers,” Keeney said. Keeny also said that there has also been no change in projected hiring levels. Honda Aircraft employs about 400 people in the Triad now, and expects to have about 600 when production begins.
