Brighter Days Ahead for Business Jet Industry

By Christina Bohnstengel

In an effort to accentuate the positive, a Cessna senior vice president is predicting that the bad news for business jets is nearing its end.

Following a ceremony to deliver two Citation XLS+ to the Swiss-based company, Lufthansa Private Jet, Roger Whyte, commented for Cessna that the business jet corporation continues to take orders and they are continuing to deliver them. This comes despite the fact that Cessna’s CEO made an announcement last week verifying that the aviation company would trim production and slow development.

Whyte countered with the fact that even though production will be cut in 2009, the numbers will still be much higher than the delivery figures from the 80s and 90s, which were in the 300-to-400 range.

The sunny-side up executive also pointed out that decreased demand means that customers still in the market for a private jet can now reposition themselves closer to the tops of the Cessna waiting lists.
