Private Aviation Soaring in the Middle East

More good news is on the horizon for the large business jet industry. Though American markets may still need some recovery time to send the record books soaring again, the Middle Eastern markets are reporting clear and sunny skies ahead.

Abu Dhabi played host city to the recent Aviation Outlook conference and the census from the panel of experts, which included executives from Middle East Business Aviation Association, Airline Marketing and Aeronautical Revenue at Abu Dhabi Airports, and Al Jaber Private Jets, was positive for the coming year.

One of the leading private jet operators in the region, Royal Jet, was represented by CEO Shane O’Hare, who explained, “To a certain degree the Middle Eastern market has been isolated from the overall worldwide downturn, not least because of the high level of liquidity in the region and a strong GDP which is forecast to remain at around 7 per cent.”

He went on to describe the same good news as Cessna executive Roger Whyte, that the positive side of the the current market situation is the supply-and-demand effect. “…a year ago, there would be 30 people looking for one airplane. Today there are 30 airplanes looking for one buyer, pushing prices down by 30-40 per cent.” He also reported that Royal Jet is currently in the market for a Boeing Business Jet, which will probably cost $25 million less than last year.
