Flying Faster in the Gulfstream G650
By Christina Bohnstengel

The Gulfstream G650 is one step closer to earning its wings. Reports indicate that the biggest jet to date successfully soared through its first simulation flight.
With a cabin large enough to carry 18 passengers, a traveling range of 7,000 nm, and max operating speed of .925 mach, the Gulfstream G650 is looking to knock off the Cessna Citation X as the fastest private aircraft.
The simulator included a full size cockpit that demonstrated the upgraded avionics, hardware, and sensor systems. The private jet should take flight later in 2009, with customer deliveries scheduled for 2012.
