New Phuket Private Jet Terminal for VIPs
By Natasha Dorsainvil

There’s something brewing in Phuket, Thailand. No, it’s not a sweet batch of Thai iced tea. With the 100 or so private jets that frequent the Phuket International Airport every month, airport officials have realized that the time has come for them build a new and exclusive VIP private jet terminal. The plan? To build a facility that will cater to the wealthy passengers who can’t seem to get enough of the kingdom’s resort island.
The five-year plan calls for a totally separate structure that will offer five-star business and hotel-style services that mirror what frequent private jet flyers are used to.
Airport of Thailand, which manages the country’s airports, has invested 5 billion baht into the project. Given the recent four-month decline in the airport’s overall incoming traffic, officials may run into a bit of a snag trying to convince private investors to help fund the VIP terminal. Even so, they expect that upon its completion in 2013, the new private jet terminal will increase airport traffic from its current 6.5 million annual level, to 11.5 million annually.
