Private Plane Included in Real Estate Deal

As we have previously reported, the popularity of lifestyle auctions is becoming quite the growing trend. The latest lifestyle package to hit the market is from a retired English couple hoping to escape to the Mediterranean shores of Spain.
While they haven’t hit the auction stages just yet, John and Susan Surbey are hoping to sell of their entire way of living, as a package deal. Included on the list of goodies is a three-bedroom farmhouse in the historic city of Ely in East Cambridgeshire. The eight-acre property includes an orchard, an airstrip, and a private plane hanger. Don’t have your own private plane yet? No worries. The package also comes with Surbey’s four-seater 1990 Maule 180 Skyrocket.
The Surbeys originally bought for the English farmhouse £72,000 in 1986, and spent the subsequent decade making upgrades to accommodate their penchant for jetsetting to France, including the adding of the airstrip and hangar. “Having a plane meant we could go to France at the drop of hat. We could finish work on a Friday, throw a suitcase in the plane and two hours later be at our French home in time for dinner…,” said John. Their two-bedroom French cottage in Normandy is also included in the package deal, which is for sale at £590,000 (items can be sold separately).
Once they couple has successfully downgraded their lifestyle, they hope to spend more time tending to their 42-foot yacht, moored in Murcia, Spain. Before Susan celebrates her 70th birthday, plans are to sail their luxury yacht across the Atlantic from Barcelona to America.
