Private Landing in Abu Dhabi
By Christina Bohnstengel

Good news is gracing the business jet community in Abu Dhabi. Provided everything goes according to plan, the region’s first airport dedicated exclusively to business jets will receive full certification this summer. The state-owned Abu Dhabi Airports Company has spent $54.5 million renovating the military airfield of Al Bateen Air Base in order to convert it to a business jet hub. The efforts are a result of the emirate’s initiative to support private aviation as a means to drive economic growth in the area.
Falcon Aviation Services and Prestige Jet have already established their presence at the airport, while Al Jaber Aviation is expected to follow suit soon once the full conversion from military base to private air hub is complete. The UAE Air Force and the Italian Air Force, who currently use the base, are expected to vacate in the next two to four years.
Mohammed al Bulooki, the vice president of airline marketing and aeronautical revenue at ADAC said that once complete the Al Bateen private jet airport will be one of the largest business jets airports in the world.
