Flying Palace
By Allison Medoff

A flying palace is resting in the clouds. In three short years the world’s biggest private jet worth £300 million will be ready for flight. A modified AirbusA380 ‘superjumbo’ designed by British firm Design Q is being crafted for an unknown owner in the Middle East. Names linked to the vessel include Saudi Prince al-Waleed bin Talal. Orders were to create a ‘flying palace’.
Being the lucky owner, you drive directly onto your aircraft, and wait for the onboard lift to take you to one of three levels. Relax for takeoff in the steam room and take a Turkish bath lined with thick marble. Stay entertained during the long flight with your hired performer to give a show in the concert hall.
For those with a strong stomach, imagine growing wings, as the floor below you turns into a live image of the open air. Play with smell, sound, and temperature. Flying over the ocean? Feel the warm rush and smell the salty air while listening to seagulls in the background. Mountains more your thing? Change the scenery and feel the icy chill breeze through the room as you inhale the crisp wintry air of the snow-topped Alps.
Bring business aboard your palace in style and comfort in the boardroom. The sides of the plane act as touch screens readily able to download and display images and live data. Need to discuss matters with someone on the ground? Have their hologram image displayed in the middle of the room for a live discussion.
Rest for the duration of your flight in private quarters. A prayer room offers virtual prayer mats that always face Mecca, or lie down in a plush king size bed, set up in your VIP suite. As you near ground make a grand exit as you walk down the eye-pleasing centerpiece of your palace, a floating spiral staircase. Own your own flying palace for an extra £300 million and make your next long flight a bit more relaxing.
