Royal Travels
By Allison Medoff

The royal travels of Prince Charles and extended family are exhausting the dynasty funds at a rapid pace. A tour to the Far East and South America designed to create awareness for environmental issues and global warming cost £1.3 million in private jet travel, while stirring controversy over the matter of keeping green. One can’t imagine fueling a private jet across the globe as environmentally friendly.
In the past year the royal family spent £6.5 million in travel costs for private jets, helicopters and the Royal Train. Trips included necessary appearances such as the Duke of Gloucester journey to the South Pacific for the crowning of King Tupou V of Tonga and the Duke of York’s trip to Mongolia and China as the UK’s Special Ambassador for Trade and Industry to Baltic States. Both trips cost a near £150,000 each. Despite the pricy travels of the extended family, it’s Prince Charles with his adventures big and small, including a £20,980 flight from Scotland to Lincolnshire to watch Prince William earn his RAF wings that are indeed depleting the bank.
