    2026–27 season at a glance

    • Opening day: Jackson Hole Mountain Resort opens Friday, November 27, 2026, the day after Thanksgiving. The resort has not yet set a closing day.
    • Busiest periods: the resort's own pass blackout dates are December 26–31, 2026, January 16–17, 2027 and February 13–14, 2027. Expect the most demand for aircraft and ramp space around those dates.

    An airport inside a national park

    Jackson Hole Airport (JAC) is the only commercial airport in the United States located entirely within a national park, Grand Teton National Park. It operates under an agreement with the park, and that shapes the rules below.

    • Runway: one runway, 1/19, 6,300 ft by 150 ft, at an elevation of about 6,451 ft.
    • Stage III only: because the airport is inside the park, operations are limited to aircraft certified as Stage III. Stage 2 aircraft have been banned from landing since June 28, 2004.
    • Approach noise limit: no aircraft may operate at JAC if its single-event approach noise level exceeds 92 dBA.
    • Over the park: no flights below 3,000 ft above ground over Grand Teton National Park, and aircraft are asked to stay east of the Snake River.

    Noise rules and the voluntary curfew

    JAC asks all aircraft not to land or take off after 9:30 p.m. or before 7:00 a.m. local time. The curfew is voluntary, but operators who do not follow it receive a violation letter and a lower score in the airport's Fly Quiet Program, which grades private and commercial operators every quarter. For your trip, plan to land before 9:30 p.m. and depart after 7:00 a.m.

    Winter operations

    • Mountain weather: the airport says JAC is a challenging operating environment with frequently changing weather. Build in time for delays.
    • After-hours limits: fire protection and snow removal are limited after hours, another reason to arrive in daylight or early evening.
    • Deicing: the deice pad is at the north end of Taxiway A and is used on departure only. The FBO says 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. is usually the busiest time for deicing, so morning departures can take longer.

    • Reservations: reservations and prior permission (PPR) are required for any overnight stay.
    • Ramp and hangars: ramp space is limited because of the park location, and hangar space is reserved for based customers.
    • Catering: only approved catering vendors may deliver food to the FBO. Food delivery apps are not accepted.
    • Cars: GoRentals is the only rental company that delivers to the FBO, and cars can be brought planeside if you share the passenger name and tail number in advance.

    Both are a drive from Jackson, and winter roads can be slow. Arrange ground transport before you fly if there is any chance of a diversion. Your operator confirms which alternate fits your aircraft.
