Private Jet to Super Bowl LXI (2027): SoFi Stadium Airports, Flight Rules & When to Book

Quick answer: Super Bowl LXI is Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, on Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day weekend. Hawthorne (HHR) is about two miles from the stadium; LAX, Van Nuys (VNY), Burbank (BUR) and Long Beach (LGB) are the other common choices. In 2022 the FAA required FBO parking reservations and set a game-day flight restriction around SoFi, so arrive by Saturday and book early.

Super Bowl LXI is on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. It is the second Super Bowl at SoFi, after Super Bowl LVI in February 2022, and the first Super Bowl played on both Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day weekend. That combination means one of the busiest weekends of the year for private aviation in Southern California. This guide covers the airports, the airspace rules that applied the last time the game was at SoFi, and how to plan a private jet trip around game day.

Haute Jets is a private jet charter broker, not an operator. We arrange flights with Wyvern- and ARGUS-rated FAA Part 135 operators, with access to 3,500+ vetted aircraft. No jet cards and no membership fees. Most quotes arrive within 60 minutes.

    Super Bowl LXI key dates

    • Game day: Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium, 1001 S. Stadium Drive, Inglewood. Kickoff time had not been announced as of October 25, 2026.
    • Super Bowl week: NFL Honors, the Super Bowl Experience and Super Bowl Opening Night take place around the Los Angeles region in the days before the game.
    • Monday, February 15, 2027: Presidents' Day. Many travelers will stay through the long weekend, which spreads departures across Monday as well as Sunday night.
    • Tickets: SoFi Stadium lists tickets as "On Sale TBA." Buy only from the NFL's official channels or a reseller you trust.

Which airport to fly into for SoFi Stadium

For Super Bowl LVI in 2022, the FAA ran an aircraft parking reservation program at eight Los Angeles-area airports from February 6 through February 14. Pilots had to get reservations through the fixed base operator (FBO) at each airport. Expect a similar program for 2027; the FAA typically announces the details a few weeks before the game.

In 2022, the FAA also applied special air traffic procedures at San Diego (SAN), Palm Springs (PSP) and three Las Vegas-area airports (LAS, HND and VGT), because so many guests connect through or continue on to those cities.

    Hawthorne (HHR): closest, but smallest

Hawthorne is the airport most people picture for a SoFi weekend because it sits about two miles from the stadium. Before Super Bowl LVI, the airport's FBO, Jet Center Los Angeles, told Business Insider it was preparing for 850 to 1,100 aircraft through the Monday after the game. That is far more than a typical weekend, so ramp space goes fast. Your operator confirms whether a specific aircraft can use HHR on your dates and whether a parking slot is available.

Van Nuys (VNY) and LAX: the practical choices for larger jets

Van Nuys is one of the country's busiest business aviation airports and is often the easiest place to find ramp space and FBO services for a large cabin jet. The drive to Inglewood is longer, so plan your ground time around game-day traffic. LAX is close to the stadium and handles any size aircraft, but its general aviation facilities are busy during Super Bowl week.

Game-day airspace: what the 2022 TFR looked like

The Super Bowl is a high-security event, so the FAA publishes a temporary flight restriction (TFR) around the stadium on game day. For Super Bowl LVI, the TFR was centered on SoFi Stadium and was active from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. PST on Sunday, February 13, 2022. It had two parts:

    • 10 nautical mile inner core: general aviation flights were prohibited, with narrow exceptions for approved law enforcement, military, air ambulance and scheduled airline operations. Departures within the 10-mile area had to be screened by TSA at LAX, with registration at least 24 hours in advance.
    • 10 to 30 nautical mile outer ring: aircraft arriving or departing local airports could operate only on an active IFR or VFR flight plan, with an assigned discrete transponder code and two-way radio contact with air traffic control.

The game itself was a "No Drone Zone." Expect similar rules for 2027, but the official 2027 TFR and NOTAMs will set the actual times. The practical lesson: the window around kickoff is the hardest time to arrive or leave by private jet. Plan to land Friday or Saturday, and plan to depart either before the TFR starts or after it ends.

When to arrive and when to leave

Super Bowl weekends concentrate demand into a few days. Here is how we suggest clients plan around Super Bowl LXI:

    • Arrive Thursday to Saturday. Saturday afternoon is typically the busiest arrival window. Landing earlier gives you more choice of airport and parking.
    • Leave Sunday night, Monday or Tuesday. Post-game departures stack up as soon as the TFR lifts. With Presidents' Day on Monday, February 15, many groups will fly home Monday instead.
    • Allow for ground time. Inglewood traffic on game day is heavy. Ask your FBO about car access and where your driver can wait.
    • Keep the crew's duty day in mind. If you want to fly out right after the game, the operator may need to rest the crew during the day or position a second crew.

Choosing an aircraft for the Super Bowl

Most Super Bowl trips are about time and flexibility rather than maximum range. A few guidelines:

    • West Coast, Las Vegas and Mountain West: light and midsize jets work well and can often use HHR or BUR.
    • Texas, the Midwest and the East Coast: a super-midsize jet such as a Challenger 3500 or Citation Longitude covers most nonstop trips. See our Challenger 3500 vs Challenger 350 review and best jets for Los Angeles to New York.
    • Larger groups: heavy jets seat more people, but they need more ramp space. VNY and LAX are usually the better fit.

Popular routes include Las Vegas to Los Angeles and New York to Los Angeles; see our Los Angeles private jet charter page for more. For earlier Super Bowl planning tips, see our guide to booking private jets for the Super Bowl, and for other events, our Las Vegas Grand Prix guide.

    How to book early

    1. Request a quote now. Aircraft and crews for Super Bowl weekend book well ahead, especially for Saturday arrivals.
    2. Pick a primary and backup airport. For example, HHR with VNY as the fallback.
    3. Lock in your FBO parking. Your operator or broker handles the reservation once the FAA program opens.
    4. Confirm ground transport. Book a car before you fly.
    5. Watch for the FAA's 2027 advisory. We will update this page when it is published.
