Private Jet to the 2027 WM Phoenix Open: Scottsdale Airports, FBOs & Timing

Quick answer: The 2027 WM Phoenix Open is tournament week February 8–14 at TPC Scottsdale, with rounds Thursday, February 11, to Sunday, February 14. Scottsdale Airport (SDL) is about a mile from the course and has Jet Aviation, Atlantic Aviation and Signature FBOs, but it bars aircraft with wingspans over 100 ft and requires prior permission for jets operating above 75,000 lb. Phoenix Deer Valley (DVT), Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) and Mesa Gateway (IWA) are the backups. The final round falls on Super Bowl LXI Sunday.

Scottsdale (SDL): closest, with rules to check first

Scottsdale Airport sits just south of TPC Scottsdale, so it is the natural first choice. It has a single 8,249 ft runway and three FBOs: Jet Aviation, Atlantic Aviation and Signature Aviation. Before you pick an aircraft, check the airport's published limits:

    • Wingspan limit of 100 ft. The City of Scottsdale bars aircraft with a tip-to-tip wingspan over 100 ft. That rules out the Gulfstream G700 (103 ft) and the Bombardier Global 7500 (104 ft), which should plan on PHX or IWA. Jets such as the Gulfstream G600 (94 ft 2 in) and Bombardier Global 6500 (94 ft) are under the limit.
    • Weight. The runway is rated for 75,000 lb certificated takeoff weight. Aircraft with a maximum certificated takeoff weight of 75,001 to 100,000 lb need prior permission from airport operations to operate above 75,000 lb. Your operator handles this request.
    • Night operations. Scottsdale has a voluntary noise-sensitive curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the control tower operates from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Plan late departures, such as after a Birds Nest headliner, for the next morning or from PHX.
    • Customs. U.S. Customs is available at SDL from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Arizona time, and the user fee must be prepaid online before arrival. That matters for guests flying in from Canada or Mexico.
    • Fees. SDL charges a transient landing fee for aircraft of 12,500 lb or more and a transient overnight parking fee.

Scottsdale gets very busy around big events. In 2023, when Phoenix hosted both the Super Bowl and the Phoenix Open in the same week, the airport's aviation director told azfamily he expected more than 490 scheduled departures for Super Bowl Sunday and Monday, compared with 50 to 100 on a typical weekend. Book early and ask your operator to confirm FBO parking for the full length of your stay. We found no airport-wide reservation program for the 2027 tournament as of October 27, 2026.

Deer Valley (DVT), Sky Harbor (PHX) and Mesa Gateway (IWA): the backups

Phoenix Deer Valley is about 10 miles west of the course with an 8,196 ft main runway and Cutter Aviation as its FBO. Phoenix Sky Harbor has the longest runway of the four, at 11,489 ft, and two FBOs, Cutter Aviation and Jackson Jet Center, and it suits any size of jet, including those too large for Scottsdale. Phoenix-Mesa Gateway has three runways of 9,300 ft or more, with Gateway Aviation Services as its FBO and a U.S. Customs user fee facility. It is the farthest of the four from the course. For more on the area, see our Scottsdale private jet charter page and our Scottsdale charter guide.

When to arrive and when to leave

    • Arrive Tuesday or Wednesday if you want the pro-am and the opening night of the Birds Nest. Arrive by Wednesday evening for Thursday's 7:30 a.m. first round.
    • Weekend only? Land Friday so you are settled for Saturday's third round.
    • Leaving after the final round means competing with Super Bowl travelers on Sunday afternoon. Leave plenty of room in your schedule or depart Monday.
    • Mind the clock at SDL. With the voluntary curfew starting at 10 p.m., an evening departure is easiest before then.
    • Keep the crew's duty day in mind. If you want a day trip from Los Angeles or Las Vegas, the operator plans crew rest around your tee times and departure.

Doing the Phoenix Open and Super Bowl LXI

Sports Business Journal describes the Phoenix Open as holding its "traditional Super Bowl weekend" slot in 2027, which means the final round and Super Bowl LXI are both on Sunday, February 14. You cannot see both on Sunday, but you can do the golf from Wednesday to Saturday and fly to Los Angeles on Saturday. Scottsdale to Van Nuys or LAX is about 325 to 330 nm in a straight line, a short flight in a light or midsize jet. In 2022, the FAA required parking reservations at Los Angeles-area airports for the Super Bowl and set game-day flight restrictions around SoFi Stadium, so book the Los Angeles side early. See our Super Bowl LXI private jet guide and Los Angeles private jet charter page.

Golf travelers can also link the West Coast swing. According to Sports Business Journal, the 2027 PGA TOUR schedule has the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am February 4 to 7 and the Genesis Invitational February 18 to 21, either side of Phoenix.

    Choosing an aircraft

Choose the aircraft for your group and your origin, then check it against Scottsdale's limits:

    • Los Angeles, Las Vegas or San Diego: a light or midsize jet is usually enough. See our Los Angeles to Phoenix and Phoenix to Las Vegas routes.
    • Texas, Chicago and the Midwest: a midsize or super-midsize jet. Chicago O'Hare to Scottsdale is about 1,240 nm in a straight line.
    • New York, Miami and the East Coast: Teterboro to Scottsdale is about 1,850 nm, and Miami about 1,710 nm. A super-midsize jet suits most groups; see our Challenger 3500 vs Challenger 350 review and the Phoenix to New York route.
    • Larger groups: a heavy jet with a wingspan under 100 ft and a maximum certificated takeoff weight of 100,000 lb or less can use SDL, with prior permission if it operates above 75,000 lb. Anything bigger should use PHX or IWA.

    How to book

    1. Request a quote early. Aircraft and crews for tournament week book up, especially with the Super Bowl the same weekend.
    2. Pick a primary and backup airport. For example, SDL with DVT or PHX as the fallback.
    3. Confirm the aircraft fits SDL. Wingspan under 100 ft and, if needed, prior permission for weight.
    4. Lock in FBO parking for every night the aircraft stays.
    5. Book ground transport before you fly. Ask your FBO where your driver can meet the aircraft.
